Irmãos Makossa
Irmãos Makossa are two friends and researchers of 1970s African music and its influences. In 2008, they decided to merge their tastes and share their knowledge with the public. Their DJ sets tell the story of a journey through Africa and how the continent has influenced global music, using tracks sourced from the vinyl records and CDs that fill their crates. Their main reference is Fela Kuti, the creator of Afrobeat, but they also draw inspiration from artists such as Manu Dibango, Ebo Taylor, Tony Allen, Franco, and O.P. du Cotonou. Irmãos Makossa regularly perform in Lisbon venues and have also played at major festivals like FMM Sines, Boom Festival, Vodafone Mexefest, Festival Lisboa Mistura, and Meo Out Jazz, as well as contributing mixtapes to radio stations such as Antena 3, RDP Africa, and Groovalizacion. Their motto is simple: to celebrate with joy and warm rhythms, embracing one of Africa’s greatest gifts to the world—its music.

Burel
Two musicians with plenty of air to give. A shared passion for music. Deep roots that allow them to resonate with the world. This defines Burel, the new musical project bringing together Filipe Valentim on saxophone and Vicente Camelo on diatonic accordion. Inspired by transhumance, they too are in constant movement, and by the wool cycle, with Burel, they aim to revisit a repertoire primarily of traditional Portuguese dance music and European folk dance.
